Excel AVERAGEIFS Function

The Excel AVERAGEIFS function is used to find the average value from a range of cells that meet multiple criteria.

The syntax for the AVERAGEIFS function is:

=AVERAGEIFS(average_range, criteria_range, criteria, …)

ArgumentPurpose
Average_rangeThe range of values to average
Criteria_rangeThe range of cells you want to test
CriteriaThe criteria the records have to meet to be included

The example below shows the AVERAGEIFS function being used to find the average order amount by the company Carpet Kings in the month of February.
