Changing Page Settings

Change page settings such as orientation, margins and vertical alignment to control how the document looks when printed.

Page formatting can be applied to the whole document or to sections within a document.

Change Page Orientation

Page orientation is the direction that the paper is facing. Pages can be set as portrait or landscape.

  1. Click the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon
  2. Click the Orientation button in the Page Setup group
  3. Changing the page orientation

  4. Select the Portrait or Landscape orientation option

Adjust Page Margins

The margins of a page can be adjusted to increase or decrease the space around the edges of a page.

  1. Click the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon
  2. Click the Margins button
  3. Adjusting the page margins
  4. Select the margins you want to use from the list, or click Custom Margins and enter the desired margin sizes in the Top, Bottom, Left and Right boxes

Align Text Vertically

Page content can be aligned in relation to the top and bottom margins of a page.

  1. Click the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon
  2. Click the Dialogue Box Launcher arrow in the bottom right corner of the Page Setup group
  3. Click the Layout tab
  4. Select the required option from the Vertical alignment list box
  5. Vertically aligning the content of a document

  6. Click Ok
