Word 2007 Status Bar

The Status Bar displays information whilst you work. For example it will tell you the page, line, section you are on and if Track Changes or Overtype mode is turned on.

The Word 2007 Status Bar

On the right of the Status Bar are the view buttons and the Zoom Slider. The Zoom Slider is a neat new tool that you can drag left or right to alter the zoom level. Alternatively you can click on the zoom level for some more standard options.

Zoome settings for the document

It is possible to customise the Status Bar. Click the bar with the right mouse button and a shortcut menu appears. Select or deselect the relevant options and click elsewhere on the screen to hide the shortcut menu again.

Customise the Status Bar

In previous version of Word, Overtype mode could be switched on using the Insert key on the keyboard. In 2007 this has now been disabled, but remains and option that can be enabled again.

Alternatively to use Overtype mode. Add the button to the Status Bar to turn it on and off again at the click of a button.
