Selecting Text

Whenever you need to work with text you need to select it. Different techniques for selecting text can improve productivity.

The table below lists different techniques for selecting words, paragraphs and blocks of text in Word.

A word

Double click the word

A sentence

Hold Ctrl and click anywhere in the sentence

A line of text

Click in the selection pane (left margin) next to the line

A paragraph

Triple click in the paragraph or double click in the selection pane

A block of text

Click at the start of the text, hold shift and click the end of the text

Several blocks of text

Hold Ctrl whilst you select the different blocks of text

Entire document

Ctrl + A
