Modify Form Controls

After inserting form controls into a document form, you will need to modify some of their properties. For example, to add items to a drop down list, make a text field read only, or to alter the date format in a date picker.

Modify the Properties of a Text Form Control

  1. Select the Text form control you want to change
  2. Click the Properties button in the Controls group of the Developer tab
  3. Change the required properties such as entering a title for the field, or locking the control from being edited
  4. Modify the properties of a text control

  5. Click Ok

Add List Items to a Drop Down List Field

  1. Select the drop down list you want to modify
  2. Click the Properties button in the Controls group
  3. Modify a drop down list field

  4. Click the Add button
  5. Add list items to a drop down menu

  6. Type a Display Name for the list item, and the Value you want it's selection to return. If no value is entered then the display name is used
  7. Click Ok and continue to add all the list items you want to use
  8. Click the Move Up and Move Down buttons to re-order the list if required
  9. Click Ok

Format the Date Picker Control

  1. Select the Date Picker form control you want to format
  2. Click the Properties button in the Controls group
  3. Format a Date Picker form control

  4. Select the format you want to use from the Display the date like this list
  5. Click Ok
