Modify a SmartArt Graphic

It is important to know how to modify the structure of a SmartArt graphic by adding, removing and changing the graphics shapes.

Add a shape

1. Select a shape in the SmartArt graphic that is closest to where you want the added shape to appear
2. Click the Design tab under SmartArt Tools on the Ribbon
3. Click the Add Shape button list arrow from the Create Graphic group



4. Select the appropriate location for the added shape from the list

A new shape can also be added by pressing Enter on the Text Pane

Replace a shape

A shape can be replaced by a different shape if necessary

1. Select the shape that you want to replace
2. Click the Change Shape button in the Shape group of the Format tab under SmartArt Tools
3. Select a shape from the gallery that appears

Remove a shape

1. Select the shape you want to remove
2. Press the Delete key
