Formatting Shapes

A shape can be formatted to meet your needs. The formatting tools are found on the Drawing toolbar.

Formatting shapes

Change the fill, line and font colours of an object

  1. Select the shape that you want to format
  2. Click the drop arrow for the required formatting button
  3. A menu appears with a selection of colours to choose from and some additional formatting options

  4. Select one of the 8 provided colours to apply the formatting
  5. Click More Fill Colors, More Colors or More Line Colors for a palette with a wider selection of colours

    Click the hexagon with the shade of colour you want from the palette, or click the Custom tab and specify the RGB value of the colour you would like

    Click Fill Effects to apply a gradient of colours, texture or picture to the shape

Change the line style, dash style and arrow style of a shape

  1. Select the shape that you want to format
  2. Click the required formatting button on the Drawing toolbar

  4. Select the option you want to use

Add a shadow effect to a shape

Shadow can be added to any shape you insert. The shadow can then be formatted to modify it's size, direction and colour.

  1. Select the shape that you wish to apply the shadow effect to
  2. Click the Shadow Style button on the Drawing toolbar

  4. Select the option you want to use

To modify the shadow settings for an shape:

  1. Click Shadow Settings from the Shadow Style button on the Drawing toolbar
  2. Make the necessary modifications using the Shadow Settings toolbar

Add a 3-D effect to an shape

  1. Select the shape you want to apply the 3-D effect to
  2. Click the 3-D Style button on the Drawing toolbar
