Bullets and Numbering

Bulleted lists can be formatted in a number of ways including changing the size,shape and colour of the bullets.

Formatting bulleted lists in Normal view will only affect the list you are currently working on. Format the bulleted list using the master slide for your changes to affect the whole presentation.

Change the bullet type

  1. Select the line(s) with the bullet styles you want to change
  2. Click Format > Bullets and Numbering
  3. The Bullets and Numbering dialogue box appears displaying a list of different bullet characters that can be used.

  4. Select the Bullet character that you want to use
  5. Adjust the size or colour of the bullet if required
  6. Click Ok

Use a symbol bullet

If the selection of bullet types is not enough, you can use any symbol for a bullet.

  1. Select the line(s) with the bullet styles you want to change
  2. Click Format > Bullets and Numbering
  3. Click the Customize button in the Bullets and Numbering dialogue box

  4. Click the Font drop list arrow and select the font you want
  5. Select the symbol you want to use for a bullet. A list of recently used symbols, regardless of their font, are displayed along the bottom of the dialogue box
  6. Click Ok

Use a picture bullet

A selection of images are also available for use as bullets.

  1. Select the line(s) with the bullet styles you want to change
  2. Click Format > Bullets and Numbering
  3. Click the Picture button in the Bullets and Numbering dialogue box

  4. Select the picture bullet you want to use
  5. Click Ok

It is possible to import your own pictures into the Picture Bullet dialogue box to be used. However, bare in mind that due to the size of the bullet most pictures cannot be used.

Apply a numbering style

  1. Select the text or placeholder that you wish to format
  2. Click Format > Bullets and Numbering
  3. Click the Numbered tab at the top of the Bullets and Numbering dialogue box
  4. Numbered list

  5. Select the numbering style you want
  6. Adjust the size and colour of the number if required
  7. Change the starting number for the list in the Start at: box if required
  8. Click Ok
