Cell Comments
Cell comments allow you to add notes to a worksheet for yourself and other users. They appear when you point to a cell containing a comment, and are recognised by a triangle in the corner of the cell.
Inserting a comment
- Select the cell
- Click the Review tab on the Ribbon, and then the New Comment button from the Comments group
- Enter the comment
- Click outside the comment area. A triangle appears in the corner of the cell indicating the existence of a comment. The comment can be viewed by pointing to the cell
To permanently display the comment:
- Select the cell
- Click Show/Hide Comment from the Comments group on the Review tab
- Click Show All Comments for all comments to be displayed
The Next and Previous buttons in the Comments group can be used to navigate comments within the workbook.
Editing a comment
- Select the cell containing the comment
- Click the Edit Comment button from the Comments group on the Review tab
- Edit the comment
- Click outside the comment area
Comment boxes can be resized using one of the eight sizing handles around the border of the comment.
Delete a comment
- Select the cell containing the comment to be deleted
- Click the Delete button from the Comments group on the Review tab
