Formatting a PivotTable
Both the data and the look of a PivotTable can be formatted.
Change the number format
Number formatting can be applied to fields within the Values area of the PivotTable.
- Click the list arrow on the field being used in the Value area of the PivotTable and select Value Field Settings
- Click the Number Format button
- Select the format type you wish to use from the Category list and customise the format as necessary
- Click Ok and then Ok again
The values are formatted with the new number format.
Formatting the table
A PivotTable can be quickly formatted using PivotTable Styles.
- Select a cell in the PivotTable
- Click the Design tab under PivotTable Options on the Ribbon
- Select a style from the PivotTable Styles group
The PivotTable is formatted with the style selected.
You can adjust the formatting for part of the PivotTable by changing the PivotTable Style Options. For example, apply special formatting for the first row of the table, or format odd and even rows differently.
- Select a cell in the PivotTable
- Click the Design tab under PivotTable Options on the Ribbon
- Select from the options in the PivotTable Style Options group
