Workbook Protection
Workbook protection can be used to prevent users making changes to the structure of a workbook, and to its default window layout.
Protecting against changes made to a workbooks structure include the insertion and deletion of worksheets, viewing hidden worksheets and recording macros.
Protect a workbook
- Click Tools > Protection > Protect Workbook
- Check or uncheck the Structure and Windows boxes
- Enter a password
- Click Ok
- Re-enter the password and click Ok
The Protect Workbook dialogue box is displayed
The Confirm Password dialogue box appears
With the workbook protected, unauthorised actions will appear ghosted.
Unprotect a workbook
- Click Tools > Protection > Unprotect Workbook
- Enter the password
- Click Ok
