Updating a PivotTable

If changes are made to the source data that the PivotTable is based on, the PivotTable needs to be manually refreshed. It does not update automatically.

Refresh PivotTable data

1. Select a cell in the PivotTable
2. Click the Refresh Data button on the PivotTable toolbar



The PivotTable updates with the changes made to the source data.

Change PivotTable data source

It is possible to change the source data that the PivotTable is based on.

1. Select a cell in the PivotTable
2. Click the PivotTable button on the PivotTable toolbar and then click PivotTable Wizard
3. Step 3 of the PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard appears

Click Back

4. The current data source is shown on step 2 and a moving dotted line surrounds the range on the sheet.



5. Select a new data range and click Finish

The PivotTable updates with the data from its new source.
