Macro Security

Macros can be used with malicious intentions. Excel will detect any macros in a workbook you are opening and warn you of their existence.

You can then choose to open the workbook with or without the macros enabled.

Macro security warning

If in doubt about the source of the file, choose Disable Macros.

Change macro security levels

If you are confident that any workbooks you open do not contain malicious macros, you can disable the macro virus protection.

  1. Click Tools > Macro and then Security
  2. The Security dialogue box is displayed.

  4. Click Ok
