Validate a worksheet
Tools such as Autofill are not recognised by Data Validation, meaning invalid data can be entered onto a worksheet. Invalid entries on a worksheet can be highlighted using the Circle Invalid Data tool.
Highlight invalid data
Validating data is best performed using the Formula Auditing toolbar.
- If the Formula Auditing toolbar is not visible, Click View > Toolbars and select Formula Auditing
- Click the Circle Invalid Data button

A red circle appears around all invalid data on the worksheet.
Remove invalid data highlights
To remove the circles from cells containing invalid data:
- Correct the data in the cell and the circle will disappear
- Click the Clear Validation Circles button on the Formula Auditing toolbar

Clearing the circles will remove the circles but the data remains unchanged and therefore invalid.
